The LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LIHEAP) assists households with their heating & electric bills. Households do not have to be disconnected but must meet the income guidelines below:
1 in household - $1,396 gross for 30 days prior to application
2 - $1,891
3 - $2,386
4 - $2,881
5 - $3,376
6 - $3,871
7 - $4,366
8 - $4,861
This program may also repair or replace unsafe or inoperable heating systems for home owners.
If households are disconnected, have a disconnect notice, or are at 25% or under in their propane tank, additional assistance may be available.
THE LIHEAP PROGRAM YEAR WILL NOT START AGAIN UNTIL SEPTEMBER 3, 2012.
Monday, September 3, 2012 - Households containing people over 60 or the disabled may begin calling in for an appointment. Furnace applications may also be taken for those priority households IF they have an inoperable heating system or one that is unsafe.
Monday, October 1, 2012 - Households with children under the age of 5 may begin calling in for an appointment. Furnace applications may also be taken for those priority households (age 60, disabled, children under 5) IF they have an inoperable heating system or one that is unsafe. In addition, households that are disconnected or are at 25% propane or under may call for a reconnect assistance appointment without having to be one of the priority households.
Thursday, November 1, 2012 - Everyone else may begin calling for an appointment.
