Ameren Illinois Grant will Help Reduce Energy Bills

Income-eligible residents can receive utility help through Wabash Area Development, Inc.

WADI Service Counties, IL (March 3, 2016) — Ameren Illinois President Richard Mark announced today that the company has donated $25,000 to Wabash Area Development, Inc. (WADI) to help customers with their energy bills. Grants will be available to local residents who are eligible for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program and households that do not exceed 300% of the 2015 Federal Poverty Guidelines. “Many customers, particularly those in lower-income areas, are seeking relief to pay their energy bills,” Mark said. "Ameren Illinois is committed to serving the community and that’s why we’re partnering with local social service agencies to provide relief to those who need it the most." WADI will use this grant to help households who are within the range of 0% to 300% of the 2015 Federal Poverty Guidelines. Households may receive the hardship grants that will match what they have paid on their Ameren Illinois bill in the 90 days prior to the application. The credit will be applied to their Ameren Illinois account. For more information, please call WADI at (618) 643-2161. Qualifiers are based on 30-day income and the number of people in a household.

The grant to Wabash Area Development, Inc., is part of $1 million in energy assistance that Ameren Illinois is awarding to 26 agencies to help income-qualified customers with their energy bills. Through its Ameren Cares program, Ameren Illinois is investing in non-profit organizations and mobilizing its employees to support local charitable causes. In 2015, Ameren Illinois donated $1 million to military families, seniors, low-income customers, and social service organizations to help them offset their energy costs. The company also offers several programs to help customers with bill payment and financial support, including Warm Neighbors Cool Friends, Energy Efficiency incentives, and Budget Billing.
